RIP Twitter: Twitter is now “X.com” and we hate it.
Elon sucks, Twitter is iconic. RIP blue birdie.
That’s it. That’s the post.
No, but in all seriousness, WTF. We’ve known for some time now that Elon was making changes at Twitter HQ ever since he “took office.” But completely rebranding one of the most popular social platforms into the 24th letter of the alphabet, is not IT. When I first heard the news, I thought it was a joke. A rumor. A game of misinterpreted telephone. Then I open my “Social” folder on my phone today and see a big white X in a black box.
So now, I just have a few questions for Mr. Musk…
First and foremost… WHY?
X.com, is supposed to be the “everything” app which includes it’s same features plus photo and video enhancements, payment functions, and so much more. Literally, everything. Every app you use on a day to day in one place. (Let’s be honest, that’s kind of cool. But we aren’t Elon stans so..boooo, tomato, tomato).
I know what you’re thinking. Mark Zuckerburg did the same thing with Meta so why is everyone hating on Elon. You may be right but at least they allowed us Facebook and Instagram users to maintain our comfort and familiarity with the apps. Instead, Mr. Musk changed the name, logo, interface, etc. [insert roll eyes emoji].
What is “tweeting” going to be called?
X’ing? Immediately no.
Do we really need another video app?
X will never be TikTok. X will never be Instagram. There, I said it. And if I’m wrong, I’ll be the first to admit it.
So anyway, thanks for coming to my ted talk…see yall in the Threads app.
